A high-end jewelry store called Diva has opened on the Plaza with such designers as Stefan Hafner, IWC, BBG and Diva, an in-house line.

Owner Mark Shaw said in an e-mail, "We will be offering our customers something different from other stores in Santa Fe. We are always seeking to make Santa Fe look good, and we feel that Diva diamonds and jewels will do just that."

Diva has hired a staff of four.

The store, 78 W. San Francisco St., has moved into a remodeled space that features new marble flooring, display cases and lighting.

Camp Lovewave — on KSFR-FM, a public-radio station at 101.1 — will host investment counselor Arch Crawford at 11 a.m. June 5.

Crawford is also an astrologer.

His monthly market newsletter, Crawford Perspectives, has been rated the No. 1 or No. 2 market timer by Hulbert Financial Digest since 1977, according to Terran Lovewave, host and producer of the Camp Lovewave radio show.

"There are big financial shifts coming to the U.S. and around the world and it may not be pretty," Lovewave said in a news release. "Arch will be taking calls during his visit to the camp."

It's a long row to hoe these days in the restaurant business — just look around the next time you're in your local eatery.

Unfortunately, some places are closing down.

Home Planet Cafe in Eldorado recently went out of business after just four months.

"I didn't make enough money to survive," said owner Steve Cooper. "I couldn't pay the rent in April."

Another restaurant, La Plancha de Eldorado, is scheduled to open there in three weeks or so.

Kaune's Neighborhood Market, owned by Cheryl Pick Sommer, will be featured on national television showing how small markets are surviving the competition of the big guys.

CNBC will be filming footage at Kaune's, 511 Old Santa Fe Trail, today.

"Surviving in a big-box supermarket era is tough, but Kaune's Neighborhood Market is managing to do so successfully," Sommer said in an e-mail. "CNBC will feature Kaune's survival story in an upcoming documentary highlighting what goes on behind the scenes of ... supermarkets and independent markets."

The documentary will also show how Sommer continues to find new ways to provide better service and create a better shopping experience, the e-mail said.

Call Kaune's at 988-3977 for today's shooting schedule.
