“AE Jewelers coming to FdL”

A new jewelry store is on its way to Fond du Lac.

AE Jewelers is building a 28,000-square-foot store just south of the new Country Hills Pet Hospital on Rolling Meadows Drive.

The store should open by mid-October, in time for the holiday shopping season, said James DeGroot, manager for AE Jewelers. Rich and Corinne Meyer own AE Jewelers.

He said the store will look similar to AE Jewelers' stores in Oshkosh and Neenah, with a stone façade and "welcoming, warm atmosphere."

DeGroot said he plans to hire five employees. The store will sell jewelry ranging from $30 to $30,000.

The owners decided to build a store in Fond du Lac to reach a larger market, especially since they have customers from the Fond du Lac area.

They chose Rolling Meadows Drive for its proximity to Highway 41. DeGroot said the Oshkosh and Neenah stores have a presence along the highway, and the locations have been "a recipe for success."

"We're excited about it. It's going to be fun," he said.

Joellyn Dahlin, principal planner for the City of Fond du Lac, said that there's another lot available north of the store, but city officials haven't received any plans for it yet. Future development is possible, she said.
