Police used videos from pawn stores to charge a Jamesburg woman with stealing $25,000 in jewelry and cash from a township home.

Amber Leonard, 31, was arrested and charged with theft at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at police headquarters after investigators were able to piece the case together from interviews and videos from area pawn shops, Sgt. Jim Ryan said.

According to Sgt. Ryan, Ms. Leonard broke into a Joan Street home while the residents were on vacation between Sept. 18-22, according to Sgt. Ryan.

When the homeowners returned they found they were missing jewelry, cash, prescription medicines and American Express gift checks, Sgt. Ryan said.

Ms. Leonard allegedly was identified in video recordings in East Windsor pawn shops where most of the jewelry was reportedly sold, according to Sgt. Ryan.

Ms. Leonard was released on a summons pending her first court appearance, according to Sgt. Ryan.
