A Madison County investigator notified Athens-Clarke police Wednesday that the jewelry turned up at a North Avenue pawn shop, police said.

A police report didn't note the actual value of the necklace and pendant, but the man sold the jewelry for $15.60, according to police.

A Winterville man on Monday also sold stolen jewelry - this time taken during a burglary in Oconee County - to a store at Georgia Square Mall that pays cash for gold, police said.

The 35-year-old suspect sold a stolen necklace and bracelet for $332, police said.

Store managers told officers they wanted to prosecute, and planned to take out warrants charging the man with theft by deception, according to police.
